Feliz Centenario de Nuevo México!



A very very late happy centennial to her! She was made a U.S. state January 6, 1912. Gah, I did this over winter break and finally got around to posting it. It kind of got messed up in the coloring phase, and again when I scanned it. I didn't have full photoshop capabilities and couldn't fix it properly. Oh well.

Here you've got a Quinceañera themed picture of New Mexico. I figured it was appropriate because of her apparent age, plus both a centennial and quinceañera carry some importance. The main part of the dress was supposed to look like some of the amazing cliffs and mountains around her land, but I used the wrong pencil so it looks golden. She's holding a pair of flats that she's been wearing for the whole celebration, and now I imagine she's wearing some pretty turquoise heels. I know tears don't work like that but hey, at least I got them in the right corner. (kinda)
She's supposed to be at White Sands, with the San Andres Mountains behind her. I tries for an effect of the gypsm getting caught in the wind and flying up to mix with the stars.
